Bringing Learning to Life: 3D Art History on Enrichment Day

At Seneca Classical Academy, our mission is to love Jesus, serve others, and be thankful—and we believe that learning should reflect those values. That’s why we offer Enrichment Day, an optional full school day for K-8 students that enhances their core Tuesday/Thursday classes with subjects like STEM, science lab, music, and 3D Art History. Students also enjoy an hour-long lunch and recess and dedicated time to complete their Wednesday assignments, making it a well-rounded day of learning, creativity, and connection.
In 3D Art History, students recently explored the pinch pot technique, one of the oldest and most versatile pottery methods. Using slipping and scoring, they carefully attached pieces of clay to form their own one-of-a-kind creatures. But the creative process doesn’t stop there! Next, they’ll bring their sculptures to life with underglazes, adding vibrant colors and intricate details to make their artwork truly unique.

As a school, we believe that because we are made in the image of Jesus, our Creator, we have the gift of using our imaginations to create! Whether through music, art, writing, or problem-solving, creativity is a reflection of His design. We love seeing our students use that gift—exploring, experimenting, and bringing their ideas to life in ways that glorify God.
Enrichment Day is one of the many ways we encourage students to see learning as a gift, not just a task to complete. Whether they’re shaping clay, composing music, or investigating the wonders of science, we want them to experience the joy of discovering and creating in a way that honors their Creator.
